If you're already planning to stay in the Clare Valley, you've made a good decision. Your holiday shouldn't begin with a long drive from Adelaide. It should begin when I collect your group from your accommodation and we head into one of Australia's most rewarding wine regions.

Every group brings something different to the day. Some enjoy discovering boutique cellar doors and exploring new wines. Others are more interested in the scenery, local history, photography or simply spending a relaxed day together. The beauty of a private tour is that the day naturally follows your interests.

There's no need to fit in with strangers or keep pace with another group. If everyone's enjoying a winery, we'll stay a little longer. If you'd like to stop for a photograph or explore a historic village, that's all part of the day.

We'll usually visit four or five wineries, from well-known Clare Valley names to boutique family producers that many visitors would never discover on their own. It's not about how many wineries you visit. It's about having the time to enjoy the Clare Valley between them.

Lunch is included and is usually a generous charcuterie platter showcasing regional produce at one of the wineries we visit. If your group has a favourite winery restaurant in mind, your included lunch allowance can simply be put towards your preferred venue, with any difference payable on the day.

Planning a day for family or friends can feel like a responsibility. Some people may know plenty about wine. Others may simply be looking forward to spending time together. That's exactly how many of my groups begin.

This private experience is ideal for groups who enjoy discovering places rather than simply ticking them off a list.

If you're looking for a relaxed day, local knowledge, beautiful scenery and excellent wines, I think you'll enjoy the flexibility that comes with having the vehicle and guide dedicated entirely to your group.

If your goal is to visit as many wineries as possible in the shortest time, there are other tours that may suit you better.

Tours generally operate from 10.00 am until approximately 4.00 pm.

There may be Cellar Door Tasting Fees, usually around $10 per person and payable at the wineries. They are often waived with a purchase.

Valley Wine Tours operates chauffeur-plated vehicles and is fully licensed, accredited and insured.

A 20% deposit secures your booking. The balance is due 14 days before your tour. Full refunds apply for cancellations made more than 14 days before departure, or if the tour cannot proceed due to unforeseen circumstances.
